Galaxy 'Chauffeur' advert

1) Who is Audrey Hepburn?
Audrey Hepburn was a huge Hollywood star in the 1950s and 1960s. She was associated with Hollywood glamour and style and was also a fashion icon and model. She died in 1993 at the age of 63.

2) Why did Galaxy select Audrey Hepburn for this advert? 
Galaxy selected Audrey Hepburn because they wanted to re create Roman holiday because of the nostalgia that comes with it.

3) What are the connotations of Audrey Hepburn and celebrity in this advert? 
The connotations of Audrey Hepburn and celebrity in this advert is that celebrities have power. This is because Audrey Hepburn stole the bus driver hat and nothing happened to her but if it was on normal women she would of been arrested if she hadn't return the hat.

4) Why is the advert set in the 1950s? What audience pleasure does this provide?
The movies is set in the 1950s for adult nostalgia as many adults are most likely to view the media text and can associate Audrey Hepburn and Italy in their lives if having watched Roman Holiday.

When one media text refers to or suggests another media text, an example of this the Tv show Family guy makes a reference about American Dad.

The Audrey Hepburn film is suggested in this advert is 1953 film Roman Holiday. The effects created by filming the advert in Italy, using old cars as props, the clothes what the actors wore.

There is the equilibrium of Audrey on the bus before the disequilibrium of the bus getting caught up in traffic. The new equilibrium is Audrey being driven to her destination by a private chauffeur.

Representations of gender shown are that women rely on men and men provide.

 10) Are stereotypes reinforced or subverted in the Galaxy advert? Give examples.
At first the stereotypes of women are reinforced but then subverted when the hat is given to the helper.
The stereotype of Italy is chaotic and Bright and Beautiful. This is reflected in the advert.
